Dr. Torey Battelle earned her B.A. in Physics from Middlebury College, and her Ph.D in Applied Physics from Colorado School of Mines (Mines).  She developed her technical skills in high-performance computing (HPC) with a postdoc at Mines, and gained valuable leadership experience as Assistant Director of Research Computing.  During her journey, she experienced a wide variety of subdisciplines, making significant contributions to several computational projects.  Her publications range from quantum information theory to the evolution of fission products in UO2 nuclear fuel pins to thermoelectric semimetals. Throughout her career, Dr. Battelle has been the recipient of research computing (RC) community awards and certificates, has presented at many RC community conferences and has helped to lead organizations such as RMACC and Campus Champions, and efforts that include Ask.CI, the RC community's Q&A forum.

Dr. Battelle is currently an Associate Director in Arizona State University's (ASU) Research Technology Office, and is instrumental to ASU's Quantum Collaborative, a collection of universities, industry parters and national laboratories driving the advancement of quantum technologies.  She leads the Collaborative's quantum computing steering committee in several exciting research directions, facilitates quantum technology-related exploration in quantum sensing, communication and networking, and connects with industry and university partners in crucial workforce development efforts.   Dr. Battelle is honored to be able to share her multidisciplinary adventures, to discuss related interests, and to explore new paths with anyone looking to engage!
