Using the NSDF Services for End-to-End Analysis and Visualization of Large Scientific Data 04/10/24 - 12:30 PM - 01:30 PM EDT

This tutorial targets scientists who need to visualize and analyze large scientific datasets interactively. The tutorial demonstrates how the National Science Data Fabric (NSDF)’s services enable accessible, flexible, and customizable workflows for multi-faceted analysis and visualization of various datasets. The tutorial walks through workflow steps of generating large datasets through modular applications, storing this data remotely, and analyzing and visualizing the data locally to draw scientific conclusions.

ACES: Introduction to Julia 04/09/24 - 02:30 PM - 05:00 PM EDT

This short course covers basic topics in numerical computation and scientific programming using the Julia programming language. Topics include basic language elements and concepts, best practices in programming, and relevant open source tools. This is an introductory course. Exercises will be performed using the ACES cluster, a composable accelerator testbed at Texas A&M University.

COMPLECS: HPC Hardware Overview 04/04/24 - 02:00 PM - 03:30 PM EDT

All users of advanced CI can benefit from a basic understanding of the hardware to determine which factors affect application performance. In this session we provide an overview including CPUs (processors, cores, hyperthreading, instruction sets), the anatomy of a compute node (sockets, memory, attached devices, accelerators) and cluster architecture (login and compute nodes, interconnects, file systems). We also cover how to obtain hardware information using Linux tools, pseudo-filesystems and commonly used hardware utilization monitoring tools.

Getting Started with Jetstream2 04/04/24 - 02:00 PM - 04:30 PM EDT

This workshop targets researchers and educators, even those with no previous cloud computing experience. Attendees will hear an overview of Jetstream2 (including various examples and use cases), learn about the ACCESS ecosystem, and learn helpful tips and tricks. Hands-on activitities will include how to access Jetstream2 and how to access and launch VMs on it through the Exosphere interface.

Intro to Quantum Computing with Qiskit Workshop 04/04/24 - 11:00 AM - 01:00 PM EDT

In this workshop we will cover how to build, transpile, verify, and run quantum circuits written in Qiskit on both simulators as well as IBM Quantum Systems backend. Mainly, we will focus on using the Estimator and Sampler primitives of both the Qiskit SDK as well as Qiskit Runtime.

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) empowers Ohio higher education institutions and private industry by providing capable, accessible, reliable, and secure computational services, including 400+ GPUs and dozens of AI-related applications. This session will provide some examples of client case studies, such as how dozens of art design students at Ohio University are utilizing devices such as iPads and digitizers to run Stable Diffusion at OSC as part of their course curriculum.
